Vanity Fair Digital Edition App Reviews

ôpa!

VF the whole year long for 19.99 ( in Brazil, at the newstand, one issue might cost double that ), no delays, no waiting, no paper, no carbon footprint? Im in!

Superb!

The conde nast digital publications are very well conceived and executed. They have newsstand, retina and auto download support. There are few merchandasing when compared to similar publications here in brazil. I wonder why other publication groups lag so far behind technically.

Takes too long to download issues

Its the same as the printed mag. The problem is that it takes way too long to download an issue. It doesnt do it in the background (even with the new newsstand feature) and you have to make sure the iPad doesnt going into a sleep mode while downloading or else it pauses. Fix the amount of time it takes to download and I will give it 5 stars.

Crap

This is the worst app. Takes FOREVER to download a magazine. If ipad goes to sleep, it pauses. If you switch to another app, it pauses download. Same if you try and download another issue at the same time. Magazine sizes are huge and ridiculous. Have a look at the Economist as a good example of high quality and quick download.

350mb???

The files are 350 mb each and take forever to download. As a previous reviewer said it suspends if it goes into sleep or you switch apps. I wish I could cancel. Other mags are under 50mb. TF20012

Great Digital Edition

Big files, but with decent broadband only takes 5-10 minutes ; no big deal. I have no problems with download or app (I also get 11 other mags and 2 newspapers; this is no different from SI, Esquire, GQ, Auto etc, so really not sure what the wining is about). We get this free with our print sub; my wife reads that, but I prefer the iPad edition. Stunning photos, indexing of articles, layouts and bonus features. Links to previous articles also very helpfull.

Ok so it takes an hour....

It takes an hour to download the issue but as an avid e-magazine reader, it is one of the best, most interactive and properly laid out mags available. That said, I wish it would only take HALF an hour or 15 minutes to download.........

Attention Newbies: All feature-rich magazines take time to download.

I expect that many of the reviews come from people who are new to iPad publishing. Generally, unless the publication is largely text only, and light on photography, video and audio (like The Economist), the file is going to take a while to download. The wait is usually worth it if you desire an interactive experience.

Buggy

This app needs an update. Cant open any issues.

Would love to read it if it didnt crash ...

Cant open the app, instantly crashes since last updated. Im paying for a service I cant use. Please fix bug!!! When it works, its nice.

Only for those who have infinite patience

In the time (interminable) it takes to download an issue, you could have strolled to the real newstand, stopped for a latte, read the issue from cover to cover and the little download wheel would still be spinning around. And thats just to download the How to Use This App file! Really bad VF, not impressed at all. I would pay more money to have an app with fewer time-consuming ad downloads. Dont waste your time on this one.

Horrible in new iPad retina display

Looks horrible on the new iPad retina display. Typeface is a disaster. And why on earth does the digital edition appear AFTER the newsstand edition?

Simply terrible

Tried to subscribe, app wouldnt let me until it was installed, which it was. Then their website wouldnt even let me submit a help request form. Bye bye app!

Great App

Ive been a print subscriber for a while, and set up was easy and quick. I never thought Id get into reading articles on the iPad instead of print, but the ui is good and so is the overall experience.

Terrific

I would not have thought that the app version would approach the quality of the print version but it does. With easy navigation and extra features I actually appreciate the app version more.

Great Implementation of a digital magazine

I honestly love this magazine. The content is very compelling and thoughtfully written and the iPad version is gorgeous. Its interface takes a bit of acclimatization but its very easy to use. The only downside is that if you have a retina display people will want to know what youre reading, because the photos look so stunning!

App is crap

I subscribe to international edition of Vanity Fair. 2 months and 10 emails to support later I still have no idea how to get the iPad edition

App Is Crap-Support Is Crappier

This app is a voyage into absolute frustration surpassed only by the absolute frustration in trying to get customer support. In the beginning app worked without issue then six months ago I could not download magazine, made numerous calls, emails and was given a work around and a promise for resolve. Unfortunately the resolve was more telephone calls, emails..more email...more calls followed by silence from Vanity Fair. Am a long time, loyal subscriber that loves the magazine but the support has soured by feeling, so would suggest to keep your love for VF dont download this app, unless you like agony.

Wont download

As of the February issue I can no longer download. My subscription is still active for a year. The subscription "functionality" has been very temperamental.

Not working!

I too have difficulty downloading issues. Still not able to get FEb issue. I only purchased the 1yr subscription in nov. not an easy app to use!! I enjoy the magazine but this app is disappointing!
